title: Inviting students category: Organizations description: For org admins — invite one student or a whole roster by CSV. order: 9
Inviting students
If you administer a Ostrol organization (a school, a tutoring center, a department), you can add learners one at a time or bulk-invite a roster. This article is for admins; teachers use the workflow in Creating a class instead.
Single invitation
- Sign in and open
/org/members - Click Invite member
- Enter the student's email address and pick a role (Student by default)
- Optionally assign them to a class right away
- Click Send invitation
The student receives an email with a join link. The link expires after 14 days; you can resend from the same page if needed.
When they accept, they're added to your org and any seat-based billing updates automatically.
Bulk invitation by CSV
For class rosters, CSV is much faster.
- Open
/org/members → Bulk invite - Download the CSV template
- Fill in one student per row:
email,first_name,last_name,class_code
alice@example.edu,Alice,Martin,MAT101-A
bob@example.edu,Bob,Diaz,MAT101-A
- Drag the file back onto the page
We validate every row before sending. If 5 emails are malformed, we tell you exactly which rows and offer to send the rest — you don't have to start over.
Roles
- Student — can solve, save formulas, export, share. Default role.
- Teacher — can also create classes, assign problems, view class progress
- Admin — full org access, including billing and member management
You can change roles later from the same page.
SSO orgs
If your organization uses single sign-on (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, SAML), you can flip on auto-provisioning — anyone who signs in with your SSO domain joins automatically, no invitation needed. Most large orgs use this.
Removing a member
Click the member's name and select Remove from org. Their solve history and formulas remain on their personal account; only the org affiliation is removed.
